Augmented reality is shaking up the museum-going experience, often times without the museum themselves knowing about it. The MoMAR Gallery app lets users see a whole new world of art when they visit the New York Museum of Modern Art’s Jackson Pollock gallery. By holding up their phone to a piece of Pollock’s artwork, users can see a “remix” version created by guerilla artists. So far the MoMa has stayed tight-lipped on how it feels about the “virtual trespassing,” which is probably best considering these new apps have the potential to draw in young attendees. (WIRED)
