The idea of Millennials as urban nomads isn’t completely accurate—turns out many aren’t moving much at all. According to Pew Research, only 20% of 25-35-year-olds reported living at a different address from the previous year—the “lowest level of young adult mobility in half a century.” When Gen X was the same age in 2000, 26% reported moving the previous year. This shift could be due to Millennials’ money problems, but could also be a sign of the times: the rates of Americans moving between states have fallen by 50% since the early ‘90s.
