Gen Z’s love for pickles is taking over the British festival season.

May 20 2026

Gen Z’s love for pickles is taking over the British festival season. Events like The Big Brine, Picklefest, and Pickle Festival (yes, they’re different!) are hoping to cash in on young Brits’ briny tastes with themed dishes, live DJ sets, “pickleback” shots, and other pickle-inspired entertainment. Pickle-themed festivals themselves aren’t entirely new—the long-running pickle festival at The Dog and Bell has already built a loyal following. But the trend is surging thanks to Gen Z’s growing obsession with salty, preserved, and highly memeable foods—an obsession YPulse has reported on for years now. Celebs are also fueling the craze, with Pamela Anderson launching a pickle brand and Dua Lipa going viral for her Diet Coke and pickle brine recipe. (The Times)
