The fast food industry has ballooned in France in recent years, with commercial chain restaurants reaching €21B in annual revenue in 2024. And Gen Z is largely behind this shift, preferring casual restaurants and fast food chains for being more accessible and affordable. Some of the most popular takeout foods in France are now sandwiches, burgers, and pizzas—but they’re not all from imported chains. Popular French fast food brands like Tasty Crousty and O’Tacos are drawing in large crowds by partnering with influencers and offering giveaways, and are often strategically located next to U.S. fast food giants like McDonald’s to compete.
