More British Gen Z workers are taking on multiple jobs. “Poly-employment” has reached 1.35M people in the U.K. Research from workforce management platform Deputy shows 18-27-year-olds in the U.K. make up 67% of employees with more than one job, mainly to keep up with mounting living costs and slowing wage growth. (YPulse’s 2026 Western Europe Employment and Career Goals report shows 35% of 18-24-year-olds in the U.K. have more than one stream of income.) As companies ramp up on AI adoption and young people struggle to find entry-level roles with strong job security, Gen Z’s side hustles seem to be just as important as a main role, redefining traditional employment. YPulse data also shows nearly half of 18-24-year-olds in Europe are actively seeking a job regardless of their current employment status. (Retail Gazette)
