TikTok is changing the way British Gen Z eats. New research from British food brand Homepride shows that just 12% of young people in the U.K. are consuming British staples like jacket potatoes and sausage and mash for evening meals. The study also found that 39% of respondents go to TikTok for dinner inspiration, with one in five trying a dish because it went viral online—which may be what’s pulling them away from the British classics. To draw Gen Z back in to these dishes, Homepride released an interactive quiz to discover their cooking style and get personalized recipes using the brand’s sauces. YPulse has told you that young people like to test foodie trends from their FYP, so if brands want to stay tapped in with young shoppers, they need to think beyond heritage and lean into creativity and shareability.
