Airbnb and Duolingo want British Gen Z to take “bilingual breaks.” New research shows that 60% of Gen Z in the U.K. plan to take a short European getaway this year, with cultural immersion driving many of them. Airbnb has already seen an increase in rural destination bookings among Gen Z, with most preferring less touristy spots where English isn’t the main language. At the same time, Duolingo has seen a 32% rise in Gen Z users over the past year. So, in an effort to motivate even more young travelers to visit destinations where they don’t speak the local language, Airbnb and Duolingo joined forces and are giving British and German users who complete a Duolingo lesson a 10% discount on their Airbnb stay.
