Gen Z boys have finally found their version of girl dinner: Boy kibble.

Feb 12 2026

Gen Z boys have finally found their version of girl dinner: Boy kibble. YPulse predicted years ago it was only a matter of time before girl dinner got its opposite. And TikTok’s new trend of health-conscious young men batch-cooking ground beef, rice, and vegetables into a singular unappetizing “slop bowl” seems to be it. Where girl dinner was whimsical and all snacks, boy kibble is for efficiency. Flavor is beside the point; this is all about food as an optimization tool to hit their protein and calorie goals for workouts and self-improvement. Food scholars say the basic combo lets men “sidestep the more feminine aspects of dieting” by framing it as performance fuel rather than weight loss. The protein-maxxing agenda is not new for young men, but the rebrand to “ground beef o’clock” is giving it a less intimidating vibe than other trends. (NYT)
