LEGO unveiled its biggest innovation in 50 years—and it’s not just for kids.

LEGO unveiled its biggest innovation in 50 years—and it’s not just for kids. The new Smart Play initiative is debuting sensor-packed bricks with light, sound, and motion detection unlike ever before. While launching with specific-to-kids’ Star Wars sets first, Lego’s chief product officer says she has “no doubt” the tech will hit adult lines like the $850 Millennium Falcon and $50 flower bouquets soon. More complex builds and exciting features are natural next innovations as adult fans now drive a third of Lego’s sales and account for 60% of total toy industry dollar growth. YPulse data shows Lego is young people’s favorite toy brand, and 79% of 13-39-year-olds say there’s no shame in buying toys as adults—so don’t expect them to ever stop playing. (The Verge)
