Pétanque has a new 14-year-old French prodigy. The popular outdoor boules sport originating from the south of France has a reputation for being an old-man sport. But at just 14-years-old, Dawson Herleman stunned everyone by winning a prestigious international tournament in Corsica last week alongside his two teammates age 48- and 72-years-old. Just like Luke Littler, who helped make darts cool again last year, Herleman is bringing fresh vibes to pétanque. YPulse predicted that European Gen Z would explore lesser-known sports this year and encouraged brands to be on the lookout for partnerships with these niche-sport celebs—clearly, it’s panning out.
