Some French MPs want a ban on social media for teens.

Some French MPs want a ban on social media for teens. Last year, a task force advised President Macron to set a minimum legal age for social media access at 18-years-old. Now, a French parliamentary inquiry recommends a ban on social media for children under 15-years-old and a β€œdigital curfew” for teens. The report focuses mostly on TikTok and accuses the platform of exposing children to toxic and addictive content, including videos promoting suicide. While these recommendations are unlikely to be put into law anytime soon, they contribute to a growing debate in the country about the negative impact of social media on teens. (BBC)
