Gen Z is turning moviegoing into a lifestyle with top tier theater memberships. Even though they can watch most movies on streaming (or even social media), many young people still crave the experience and community of watching movies in theaters. That’s why they’re tapping into ticket subscriptions. For example, with AMC A-List in cities like Los Angeles, members can watch up to four movies weekly for $28 a month—far less than they’d pay for that number of tickets. YPulse data shows17% of 13-39-year-olds say they see movies at a regular theater (not including IMAX, 3D, etc.) on a weekly basis, but we also know entertainment budgets have gotten tight. Beyond the perks, AMC A-List specifically has become a kind of status symbol among Gen Z movie lovers, especially in L.A., where many even use it as a conversation starter on dating apps. (LA Times)
