Recent Gen Z graduates are three times less likely than Millennials to have a job lined up right after graduation. Nearly 40% of past graduates (including Millennials and Gen X) secured full-time jobs by the time they tossed their caps. But for Gen Z, that number is just 12%. And despite viral headlines that claim Gen Z lacks motivation, the reality is they’re navigating a job market that’s far more difficult than the one previous grads faced. With fewer entry-level openings, more rejection, and hiring processes that drag on for weeks, 58% who graduated within the last year are still searching for a job post-graduation. Many are casting wider-than-wide nets, sending out hundreds of applications or getting more creative—whether it’s passing out donuts with resumes attached or networking during marketing conferences as servers—just to stand out. (Fortune)
