Roblox is allowing users to make games based on their favorite shows and movies. Last month, YPulse reported on a teen creating the viral “Grow a Garden” game on Roblox and breaking popularity records on the platform. Since then, another teen-created game, “Blue Lock: Rivals,” which is inspired by and named after the anime Blue Lock, was acquired for $3M by DoBig Studios. Now, Roblox is officially giving creators the legal green light to build games inspired by blockbuster IPs like Twilight, Stranger Things, and Squid Game through a new licensing platform. The tool allows IP owners to list their properties, set usage terms, and earn a share of revenue when fan-made games take off. For developers who’ve long risked takedowns, it’s a big move as it offers new opportunities to monetize without legal uncertainty. (Tubefilter)
