The collection plate at church has gone digital. For young worshippers, who don’t carry cash and may be limited financially, collection plates at churches have become an outdated system. The popularity of mobile payment apps, and the fact that 91% of Millennials use their phone to make a purchase at least once a month, has inspired developers to create apps that model a similar service for churchgoers. Tithe.ly, for example, is an app aimed at make donating easy and convenient by giving users the option to contribute to any of the 1,000 churches that subscribed, with just five taps. The co-founders call it “frictionless giving.” (Bloomberg Business)
