Dating app Match reports nearly half of Gen Z have already used AI to date. As young people deal with dating app burnout and too many choices—66% of 18-39-year-olds say dating apps are not as good as they used to be, according to YPulse—many are turning to AI to help, whether for writing messages, building better profiles, or finding more compatible matches. Match’s new Singles In America study shows a 333% jump in AI use since last year, with Gen Z leading the way. It also shows 33% of Gen Z and 23% of Millennials have even chatted with an AI as a romantic companion. (And YPulse data reports that 17% of 18-24-year-olds are interested in having an AI boyfriend or girlfriend.) Some worry that using AI in dating, like altering photos or generating conversations, feels less genuine.
