Gen Z is facing a new challenge in the workplace: AI interviewers. It’s no secret that young people are facing a shaky job market, and besides being wrongfully labeled as the lazy, antisocial working gen, many are also endlessly applying to jobs with no responses. Now, they’re venting about their latest struggle on TikTok: being interviewed by an AI bot instead of a real person. Videos of young professionals chatting with these AI bots are going viral, often for the funny yet disturbing glitches that happen to the “interviewer.” One user, for example, was stuck hearing “vertical-bar Pilates” on a constant loop from their chatbot when interviewing for a role at a Pilates studio. And while some are creating parody videos of these scenarios, there are plenty of real examples of young jobseekers feeling dehumanized by the experience. Even though this gen is accustomed to AI in their everyday lives now, they definitely don’t want to be interviewed for a job by one. (Mashable)
