“Positive Masculinity” is taking over TikTok, thanks to the account “Sex Ed for Guys.” With over 117K followers, the account run by four students and one professor at Colby College is tackling important topics like consent, toxic masculinity, and homophobia in a way that grabs young people’s attention—using comedy sketches. One of their most viral videos where they play a game of “That’s what’s up” vs. “What’s up with that?” has over 2.8M views and shows how the group makes these conversations accessible and relatable. Their content focuses on breaking down harmful ideas that young men are currently encountering in “manosphere” content, like misogyny and anti-feminism. Instead, they offer skits that talk about things like setting boundaries with a partner, the difference between coercion and consent, and say they have plans to tackle the culture of the manosphere more directly, discussing things like healthy friendships, anti-racism, and men’s mental health, too.
