The teen vaping trend may be creating more smokers. A new study on 10th grade students found that two in ten frequent vapers became frequent smokers over the course of six months, and an additional 12% became occasional smokers. In comparison, only 2% of students who never vaped became occasional or frequent smokers over the same period. According to the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, 90% of adult smokers started when they were teens, and medical professionals warn that nicotine exposure at that young age can negatively effect brain development.
