Going through 147 fashion magazine covers from 2016, Fashionista found that 36% featured women of color—a 17% rise from 2015. However, covers can feature both models and Hollywood celebs, and with only a 0.7% rise in models of color on runways From Feb. to Oct. 2016, the industry still has a long way to go in the diversity front, especially if they want to keep up with young consumers, whose calls for diversity are intensifying.
