Target is releasing an AI-powered chatbot tool called Store Companion. Target’s Store Companion is for employees, not shoppers, designed to streamline operations. The generative artificial intelligence is a work smarter, not harder tool, aiming to make more time for meaningful connections with customers. Other major retailers have already taken the same initiative, with Walmart introducing gen AI for employees to answer customer questions late last year. This chatbot also provides quick and easy access to answers to common questions, such as how to sign up for a Target Circle Card and on-the-job training resources for all employees. But the AI will interact with consumers a bit, adding to search functionality on the Target website later this summer. (Retail Dive, Target)
