Children are spending more than two hours a week online shopping. In a recent study, 16% of parents reported that their children have developed an online shopping addiction, and 22% revealed that their kids prefer online shopping to activities like watching TV. Almost half of the parents surveyed mentioned that their children buy clothing online, while 32% showed an interest in purchasing beauty products. It’s not always the case that every member of Gen Alpha actively pursues online shopping; rather, the attraction to e-commerce is pulling in children and tweens through games, apps, and influencers who are remarkably close in age to them.
