Venice’s tourist tax just started and it’s already getting backlash. Last year, YPulse informed you about how Venice voted the implementation of a €5 tourist tax to fight overtourism. The measure was finally put into place last Thursday in the City of Bridges, but local residents are loudly protesting against it. They argue the tax is transforming the city into a theme park (“Veniceland”) and won’t help to curb the millions of tourists flooding there every year. (The Guardian)
