A study of over 10M college graduates from the past decade found that about half end up in jobs where their degrees are not necessary. Many young people were hit with negative effects from the COVID-19 pandemic in recent years, and still a large number of college educated workers remain underemployed. The study focuses on the importance of a first job after graduation and the critical role of internships in getting on a “college-level career track.” But at present, “45% of college graduates do not have a job that requires a degree or college-level skills.” The value of a college education continues to be a topic of debate, questioning whether universities are producing the knowledge that employers are really asking for. 📊 YPulse data: 56% of college students think it will be somewhat or very difficult to get into their chosen career path after graduation
