A new study shows TikTok and YouTube are dominating teens’ screentime—detracting from the use of Instagram and Snapchat.YPulse data shows Gen Z are watching tons of video content, but TikTok and YouTube are undoubtedly the giants in this field, despite how other social media platforms attempt to break in. And amongst the hundreds to thousands of notifications teens are paying attention to on their phones these days, these two apps are taking up more than half of their screentime. In turn, the study from Common Sense Media found that Snapchat took up only 3.6% of their daily screentime—which is pushing the brand to look for ways to expand their audience from the teens they’ve always relied on.
