Jaden Smith just co-founded a luggage brand developed from recycled ocean plastic. With the help of “retail veteran” Sebastian Manes, the rapper / actor launched Harper Collective, a sustainable luxury luggage brand. The line features hard-shell rolling suitcases that come in four sizes and will be sold online and at a store-in-store at Selfridges in London. Manes believed there was a need for eco-friendly luggage in the market because, “although there are many beautiful luggage brands, there is very little innovation in a sustainable direction.” Each piece was produced with 30% sea plastic, 40% post-consumer plastic, and 30% virgin plastic, and prices range from around $773 to $1035. YPulse research shows that while Gen Z and Millennials want brands to offer eco-friendly products, they also believe they should be sold at an attainable price, so Harper Collective could either be a hit or miss amongst the young gens.
