Gen Z has a newfound interest in working in the finance industry. The young gen has become somewhat notorious for their lackadaisical attitude towards the job force and prioritizing their personal lives over their work ones. However, it seems as though this is changing due to the state of the economy in a post-pandemic society. According to recent data from the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute, finance is now the most desired industry by Gen Z to take a career path in. In a world where Gen Z seems to be surrounded by “record inflation and student loan debt, young graduates want stability and financial security.” Before the pandemic, jobs in the education and health industries were the most desired, but now finance seems to be the most appealing to this young gen for its “competitive salary” and reliability. YPulse’s Employment and Career Goals report shows that having a high paying job is important to Gen Z, but so is having a healthy work / life balance. (Fortune)
