Subway has entered the chat(GPT) in the feud between McDonald’s and Burger King. In a clever ChatGPT billboard that started in Brazil, the artificial intelligence bot named the McDonald’s Big Mac the most “iconic burger” and Burger King’s Whopper “the biggest burger” in a competition for who had the best sandwich. Then, the advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi saw an opportunity to get Subway involved in the ad too, just in time with the launch of their new Series menu. The bot ultimately settled the argument, claiming that Subway’s Footlong trumped the Big Mac and Whopper because they are “significantly smaller than a footlong sandwich.” Using chatbots could be a helpful marketing tactic for companies in the future, especially when keeping tech-savvy Gen Z and Millennial audiences in mind. YPusle’s AI Unpacked trend report shows that nearly half (47%) of young people think brands should use AI in their marketing and about a third think funny AI interactions is a cool way to use AI marketing.
