According to teens, “a brand that is innovative improves on what came before it and is willing to try new things.”

Highlights

ChatGPT is the face of AI innnovation (for now).

OpenAI's generative AI didn't just debut in the top 25—it soared to the #2 position. Although ChatGPT dominates rivals in terms of usage among teens, its position is tenuous between rising competitors and self-inflicted wounds (ScarJo, cough, cough).

Apple is (still) crushing the innovation space.

Teens continue to see Apple as a leader in innovation. Apple's reputation for innovation among teens is built on its continuous product improvement, the high-quality and user-friendly design of its products, and the significant role its devices play in the daily lives of young consumers.

Innovation doesn't necessarily mean tech.

Although tech dominates the Top 25, quite a few slots are occupied by non-tech brands. As long as a brand is trying new things with new designs, fits, or flavors—Flamin’ Hot Queso Dinamita Sticks, anyone?—any brand can be considered innovative.
