J.Crew is bringing SNL into the world of menswear. The brand recruited comedy group Please Don’t Destroy (known for their work on SNL) for a new short film. It features the trio as “bumbling employees” at a J.Crew shop, struggling to help customers and close the store before noon. The campaign puts a playful spin on the sometimes-intimidating experiences of shopping for men’s suits, especially for younger consumers, using humor and familiar faces to make it feel more approachable. For years, current and recently departed SNL cast members have appeared in fashion campaigns, modeled in lookbooks, and collaborated on special projects across brands. And it’s a strategy that’s likely working: comedy remains one of the most engaging entertainment genres for Gen Z, from podcasts to social media. Meanwhile, SNL remains one of the most enduring bigwigs in American comedy—and brands are smart to borrow its credibility. (Glossy)
