There’s a new dating app for Gen Z’s fave hobby: reading. Okay, so maybe some of the people who only want to date readers—or want to date the people who feel that way—are being a little performative. But Readme is the new dating app just for them, and it’s coming from the creators of Gen Z’s favorite astrology app, Co-Star. (The one that sends pithy, sometimes ominous, advice for their day.) Because so many Co-Star users treat it as a way to assess compatibility, the brand felt it was only natural to launch a real pairing platform, and says, “someone’s taste in books tells you a lot more about their true spirit than an awkwardly workshopped line on a conventional dating app profile.” The launch party for the app might not be the very best omen though; The Cut reports it was hard to find out how to even sign up and that even there, flirting was a strenuous feat.
