Gen Z is reportedly “lore tripping” to have unique travel experiences. According to a survey commissioned by Airbnb, 90% of Gen Z say small towns and under-the-radar spots appeal to them for travel this fall, driven mainly by affordability, authentic culture, and unusual attractions. Airbnb also reports that half of the trending destinations on Airbnb among Gen Z travelers are small towns. Twentynine Palms, California with its desert murals; Hot Springs, Arkansas with its bathhouses and live music; and Helen, Georgia with its Alpine-style architecture are some of the destinations showing strong Gen Z interest—and local legends, aesthetics, and unique attractions are a big part of the draw.
