Gen Z’s bevolution is creating a generational gap.

Gen Z’s bevolution is creating a generational gap. According to a National Restaurant Association report, half of Gen Z and 47% of Millennials make beverage-only purchases each week, compared to 36% of Gen X and 20% of Baby Boomers—a gap that could widen as the young gens gain more spending power. Their frequency is helping fuel the growth of beverage-forward brands like Swing and drink launches at fast food chains trying to keep up. YPulse told you about Gen Z’s “bevolution”! But while brands are creating their own drink innovations from dirty sodas to refreshers to capture these young gens’ attention, there may be a ceiling to this trend. After all, data shows only 19% of consumers overall want more artisanal or crafted soda options. Coffee (which for Gen Z means iced), however, may offer a path forward as many young consumers are willing to try offerings from non-cafe brands, which is why some restaurants like Taco Bell have expanded beyond fountain drinks with their own coffee flavors.
