Some Gen Z are banking on a housing market crash. According to a Clever Real Estate survey, half (49%) of recent Gen Z college grads moved back home after school, and cost is, of course, one of the main reasons. But many are worried this won’t be quite so temporary, and the worry that they won’t buy a home anytime soon is still prevailing. And despite what actually happened for young Millennials last time the housing market crashed, many Gen Z apparently see it as their only chance to afford a home. Clever Real Estate reports 58% of Gen Z—and 65% of those with student loans—are hoping the market will take a turn down soon so that they might finally see prices they can manage. But, in reality, young adults’ home ownership dropped –9pts with the last crash, from 45% to 36% between 2005 and 2014. (Inc.)
