Is sunscreen a dating non-negotiable for Gen Z? According to a survey of Gen Z and Millennial daters by dating app Hily, a notable portion of the younger gen is only looking for partners who take diligent care of their skin. Reportedly, one in five Gen Z women and an even larger one in three Gen Z men “wouldn’t date someone who doesn’t use sunscreen on their face.” Though, only 16% of Gen Z women and 5% of Gen Z men use sunscreen daily, without exception—and a good number (23% women, 37% men) never use it. So, on the flip side, a partner bugging them personally to wear sunscreen can also be a deal breaker—a quarter of Gen Z women and a fifth of Gen Z men find someone constantly bringing it up “high maintenance.” The majority among both genders do agree looking out for their partner’s sun exposure is “a form of care,” but it seems they don’t want to be reprimanded themselves.
