Some Gen Z are “romanticizing” their hangovers. Gen Z’s night life is not dead!

Jul 08 2026

Some Gen Z are “romanticizing” their hangovers. Gen Z’s night life is not dead! On TikTok and Instagram, young people are posting videos of their morning (or afternoon) routines after a night out, with captions like, “Feeling hungover but full of love and happiness” and “im hungover from running around nyc til the sun came up.” Popular Gen Z influencers like Alix Earle have—purposefully or not—embraced the messy hangover vlog and become faces of the trend. Others like 26-year-old content creator Allana Blumberg create videos “romanticizing” hangovers as a reason to read, move around, and feel productive instead of staying in bed or eating greasy foods. Many of these videos become inadvertent ads for hangover remedies too, especially for beverage brands like Red Bull, Diet Coke, and electrolyte drinks. But still, “TikTok hangover chic” has its limits, as most of these creators only show mild hangovers and don’t glorify seriously dangerous behaviors. (The Guardian)
