Gen Z and Millennials have different views on smartphone etiquette than older gens. According to a new PCMag study conducted by YouGov, three quarters of U.S. adults say that texting or emailing while talking to a person IRL is unacceptable—but 40% of Gen Z don’t see an issue with that habit. (Though notably, that does mean 60% do find it uncool.) And while 56% of all respondents say it’s unacceptable to send a text or email written by ChatGPT, 51% of Gen Z and 54% of Millennials find it acceptable, leaving them still split, but slightly skewed toward not minding. One truly big difference is that 87% of Boomers believe using speakerphones in public is inappropriate, compared to only 59% of Gen Z who say the same. (PCMag)
