Nearly all Gen Alpha is using digital payments, some with little oversight from their parents. According to a new DKC Analytics report, 86% of 8-15-year-olds use “frictionless payment methods” like Apple Pay and app-based purchases on TikTok Shop. At the same time, 41% of parents say they haven’t given their kids clear digital spending limits and don’t monitor their purchases closely. And in addition to shopping on their own, they’re also dictating how their parents shop. According to DKC, this cohort of tweens and teens already represents $100B in yearly spending in the U.S. YPulse data shows 69% of parents say their children influence their regular purchases and 65% of parents say their children introduce them to new products and brands.
