More Gen Z and Millennial shoppers are using AI tools to shop. According to recent polling from The Harris Poll and Quad, more than half of Gen Z and Millennial shoppers say they prefer to shop using AI tools to lessen the chance of making a bad purchase. Young shoppers most often use the tools to identify pricing inconsistencies across retailers and help narrow down their choices—which YPulse data also confirms. Brands have taken notice of this, of course, and major retailers like Target and Walmart have announced partnerships with AI companies to integrate their merchandise into LLMs to capitalize on it. Still, young consumers are worried about surveillance pricing—when companies use personal data to set prices—and seven in 10 of all respondents said they prefer to shop in person over online for that reason.
