Some college students are changing their majors thanks to AI. According to data from Lumina Foundation and Gallup, many college students are picking the field they’re pursuing with AI in mind as they prepare to enter a job market that has been turned upside down by the tech evolution and mass layoffs. The data shows that nearly half of college students have thought about changing their current majors, and 16% of students have already changed it because of the impact AI may have. The job market has felt difficult and discouraging for many young adults lately, and YPulse’s Employment and Career Goals data does show nearly half of 18-24-year-olds (46%) say there are fewer jobs available to them because of AI.
