Gen Z women are stressed financially, romantically, personally, politically—you name it. A Newsweek story interviewing more than 70 young women reveals large trends in this generation’s worries—and strong validity behind many of them. More than half of Gen Z and Millennial-founded business were started by women in 2025 and more women have college degrees than men, and yet this gen has the looming pressure of unemployment and inflation on their finances. Far fewer 25-29-year-olds are married than in previous gens, and young women explain that everything from men feeling intimidated by their independence to social media relationship comparison contribute to their singledom. Young women in America are also generally more likely to feel anxious about the future most or all of the time than men. But, many have hope in their generation and their friends carving a new way forward that doesn’t subscribe to the standards older gens felt they had to meet to be happy. (Newsweek)
