Restaurants are the venue for all kinds of love for Gen Z this Valentine’s Day.

Jan 28 2026

Restaurants are the venue for all kinds of love for Gen Z this Valentine’s Day. New OpenTable research found 70% of Gen Z believe the holiday is becoming more about celebrating all relationships, not just romantic ones. (Which YPulse has said for years.) This year, 60% plan to celebrate with friends instead of a partner, and dining on Galentine’s Day (Feb 13)  dining jumped 34% year-over-year. Solo dining is having a moment too: 69% of Gen Z see it as more socially acceptable than in years past and solo reservations rose 35% for this year. YPulse has found that most young people say friendships are more important than romantic relationships, so whether it’s a double date, a Galentine’s dinner, or a table for one, Gen Z is making February 14 about connection on their own terms. (PRNewswire)
