There’s a new engagement tactic flooding social media: “Vagueposting.”

There’s a new engagement tactic flooding social media: “Vagueposting.” This trend is exactly what it sounds like; users are posting cryptic, incomplete thoughts that hint at drama, secret knowledge, or hot takes without ever intending to explain. The goal is comments filling up with people begging for context, summoning AI for explanations, or posting memes about being left out. Some “vagueposters” are genuinely talking to their followers who are following the same conversation and forget the algorithm might spread it further away where it lacks context. But for others, it’s become a money-making strategy for views; especially on X, the algorithm actively promotes vague tweets because users click to find context in the replies. (Forbes)
