YPulse has told you before that young people, especially young women, are finding joy in tactile hobbies that promote their flow state and help them unplug. Now, the hashtag #Needlepoint now has over 119K TikTok videos and “analog hobbies” Google searches are up 160% in the past month alone. New York needlepoint shops report beginner kits have been selling out within days, with one owner saying she hit her eight-year sales projection in just five. Part of the appeal is it’s physically impossible to scroll and stitch at the same time, and the slow pace it requires is what they love. For many, there’s also a community element—home hosted “stitch nights” and in-person studios are thriving as third spaces. (Vogue)
