Golf is finally getting Gen Z’s attention. We’ve seen young athletes and online trends totally revitalize sports that felt inaccessible or un-interesting to previous gens. Now, the PGA is intentionally shifting strategy to get young viewers and more playful amateurs. As golf racks up more views on socials than on traditional tournament airings, the PGA launched a “Creator Classics” influencer-only competition, and this year brought in YouTuber Grant Horvat for some promo content. Outside the league officially, professional players are following the lead of comedy golf creators trying trick shots and challenges, emphasizing fun over seriousness and hushed claps.
