Urban Outfitters is homing in on Gen Z home décor. Primarily focused on college students, but also considering teens applying to schools or recent grads in new, small spaces, the home section of the brand has become a major marketing focus for UO. This year alone, they’ve rolled out a “UO Haul” campaign in NYC, a collab with HGTV, and a collection with Chipotle. The brand’s chief merchandising officer says their inspiration comes directly from young people’s habits and content, offering products to match what they’re already buying or making on their own, and follows three F’s: function, fun, and feeling. Going into the holiday season, they’re focusing on home as a major gift category as well, thinking about “small gifts” with “big impact.” (Modern Retail)
