Last week’s episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty sold out their collab Coach backpack. In a major success for product placement, the episode revolving around main character Belly losing her backpack in Paris made the real-life bag sell out. Actress Lola Tung has been a face for Coach’s “Coachtopia” line of bags made more sustainably and priced to attract a younger audience, and now her character is, too. Because it was so engrained in the storyline of the episode, the bag had a more natural appeal than other placed items might, feeling like an extension of the character’s personality. Even though the show was initially made for a teen audience, young adults and older viewers have been hooked on this season, too, resulting in a massive reach for featured brands. (LinkedIn)
