The U.K. is banning energy drinks for children under-16-years-old. The British government has been on a mission to protect the next gen from harmful substances in recent months, claiming the long-term benefits (and savings) to its health system as a prime reason. After introducing a generational ban on cigarettes last year, the country is now banning energy drinks containing more than 150mg of caffeine per litre. Official estimates claim that the move could prevent obesity in up to 40K children, citing research that links these drinks to sleep disruption, anxiety, poor concentration, and increased obesity. This will be a major blow for brands like Monster, Red Bull, and Prime Energy, which are some of Gen Z’s favorite drink brands according to YPulse research. (iNews)
