Millennial parents actually want their children on their vacations.

Aug 29 2025

Millennial parents actually want their children on their vacations. While older generations may have dreamed of vacationing for a child-free escape, Millennial parents are choosing to travel with their children. Experts say this is driven by the gen’s view of travel as “more about self-improvement and self-actualization” than as a status symbol. And Millennial parents want to pass down the taste for adventure to their children, often with the goal of shaping their kids into “adaptable, savvy people.” Of course, they also want more quality time with their family, even with the chaos that comes with it. One parent said, “Even if there’s a lot of stress, it’s a memory of being together” when reminiscing over her childhood family trips, and YPulse data shows 39% of Gen Z and Millennial parents interested in traveling do so because they want to bond with family. Young parents are also allowing their kids to give input when it comes to their trips: according to YPulse, 59% of Millennial parents say their children have a say in where they take vacations or travel.
