Besides the memes, other edits frame Bush as a “sort of lovable grandpa,” while some have fully romanticized him in his younger days. Overall, young people are using the trend as a way to compare the past and present, with many comments comparing Trump’s best moments to Bush’s worst, agreeing that Bush would be their preferred choice between the two. However, most young people posting to #BushTok weren’t alive during or old enough to remember his presidency, so his popularity among the gen reflects more of their “discontent with the current state of American politics” than any meaningful interest in his politics.
